Department of Electrical Engineering
The Department of Electrical Engineering at the Gokhale Education Society’s R. H. Sapat College of Engineering was established in 2009,approved by AICTE, New Delhi, and affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune (formerly University of Pune) with a sanctioned intake of 60 for Undergraduate (UG). Later, intake was increased to 120 in the academic year 2013-14.To accelerate Research and Development (R&D) activities, the department started a Postgraduate program in Electrical Engineering with Power Electronics and Drive (PED) specialization with 12intakes in 2014-15. The department has a well-qualified experienced, young, dynamic, expert, and devoted team of 18(6 Ph. D. and 7 Ph.D. pursuing)teaching faculty members.
The Department of Electrical Engineering is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, advanced technology, and modern computing facilities such as LABVIEW, MATLAB,ANSYS, and dSPACE RTI 1202 Microlab box, offering students hands-on experience in the electrical field. Our ICT-enabled classrooms foster an interactive learning environment, ensuring quality education at an affordable cost. With a supportive academic atmosphere, we integrate co-curricular and extra-curricular activities while maintaining an excellent faculty-student ratio of 1:25, enabling personalized mentorship. Faculty members with industrial experience bring real-world insights, and the department emphasizes continuous counselling, mentoring, and feedback to support student growth. We prioritize industry-institute interactions, and skill development programs, and encourage students to engage in research and higher learning. Frequent input from parents, industry experts, and alumni ensures continuous improvement, fostering innovation and skill development. More than 90% of our students secure placements in reputed companies, reflecting the department’s commitment to excellence in education and career readiness.
The Electrical Engineering department offers a comprehensive range of training and development opportunities to ensure holistic student growth. Inplant training is provided to offer real-world industry exposure, while GATE guidance starts from the second year to help students prepare for competitive exams. Aptitude preparation and interview skills training are integrated into the curriculum to enhance employability. Seminars for second-year students, along with effective mentoring, foster academic and personal development. Soft skills training, alumni talk series, and workshops on programming languages, AUTOCAD, and electronic devices provide students with practical knowledge and technical expertise. Industrial visits, project-based learning, and encouragement for personality development further equip students with the skills required for a successful career.
The Department of Electrical Engineering is dedicated to advancing knowledge and fostering innovation in the dynamic field of electrical systems. With a focus on addressing power quality issues, industrial drives, and energy management, the department prepares students and researchers to tackle modern challenges and contribute to sustainable and reliable energy solutions. Through cutting-edge research and comprehensive education, the department aims to shape future leaders in the realm of electrical engineering.
